Rajgir Archaeological Survey three years project will conduct excavation of historical sights with in 5 Kms from Rajgir Hills. It is expected that this will result in new discoveries about this ancient city.
A MoU has been signed in this regard between Bihar State Art and Culture Department undertaking Bihar Heritage Development Committee and Nalanda University.
Vice Chancellor of Nalanda University, Dr. Gopa Sawarwal said on the occasion that Rajgir has been a popular historical heritage as the capital of magadh empire.
A detailed map of all the places with in 5 Kms from the hills will be prepared and surveyed and accordingly match with the historical knowledge. It is expected that this will result in new information about this historical city.
Rajgir lies south of patna at a distance of 100 Kms is an important tourist place and is mainly famous for hot water spring, and Vishwa Shanti Stupa dedicated to buddhism.
