Holy Rath Yatra started from 6th July 2016 in Jagannath Puri
When I asked to a local person about another person who is swiping the road with a golden broom in his hand, he replied that the man with golden broom is the mayor of Jagannath Puri and the famous Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath is just about to begin and therefore mayor is cleaning the road before chariot of Lord Jagannath start to move on this path.
On 6/7/2016 the holy Rath Yatra of Jagannath Puri began with above job done by “Mukhiya of Puri” (Mayor). Jagannath Puri in Orissa is known for the beautiful beaches and the holy Lord Jagnnanth Temple and every year there is a Rath Yatra celebration took place here in the month of July as per Hindu calendar. Rath Yatra is most beautiful attraction of this region and it attracts million of peoples from not only in India but all over the globe. The blessing of Lord Jagannath on their devotees starts as you reached jagannath Puri. Peoples get the immense pleasure to see the three statues of Lord Jagannath, Subhadra and Lord Balram.
Jagannath temple had been built in 12th Century by the king of “Kalinga named Chaurgang”. The height of Jagannath temple is about 65 meters and biggest one in the entire region. The main part of the temple is called “Sritemple” on which three statutes is established on the throne of jewel and made by mahadaru wood. All three statues put apart in three different chariot and proceeds to the queen of Indradhummas “Gaudicha castle” which is approx 2 kms far. Area is full of massive masses. All three statutes keep in “Mausimaa” of Lord Jagannath. After 10 days the return journey starts. It is called Ulta Rath (Return Chariot). Many devotees keep on fasting and pull the rope of the chariot to get blessing of Lord Jagannath.
The holy chariots build in a specific traditional way along with used of 832 part of wooed. There are 16 wheels in Lord Jagannath’s chariot. After making the chariots all three statutes bring outside and give the shower by 108 pots which are made by soil. People believes that due to shower lord Jagannath get seek with cough and cold and the treatment of sleekness takes 15 days to get well.
Devotees believe that pulling the rope of the chariot is a kind job and they got blessed directly from Lord Jagannath and due to this blessing they obtained prosperity in their life. From beginning to end Rath Yatra of Jagannath Puri takes three weeks to conclude and due to this huge and holy festival entire region is full of happiness and spirituality.
